At 10.30am from Monday to Friday across the nation, everything stops for Popmaster.
It started out as the brainchild of Colin Martin (Ken's producer) who wanted to create a regular quiz.
He approached the greatest quizmaster and music producer; Phil Swern and they went off with Ken Bruce for lunch.
Nobody quite remembers what happened after that lunch but a few weeks later the quiz was created and played on Ken's show drawing 9 million listeners per day.
It became the most popular show across the entire BBC Radio network. In 2023 Ken decided he was ready for a change and moved to Bauer, Europe’s largest commercial radio station where he quickly became the Daddy of all, and his fans moved across to listen in daily to the show.
It is so popular with audiences and celebrities of the industry alike; we decided in conjunction with Greatest Hits Radio to create a Celebrity Podcast.
You can tune in live to the radio, listen on the podcast and also join in and listen to the celebrities playing Popmaster and see how much they know about the music industry. Always fun, always entertaining and always leave with a smile unless you are …one year out! The catch phrase coined by Ken over several decades.
